Samuel Wurtzel opens first Wards Company store in Richmond, VA.

Wards company make first public offering                

1968

 

Trading moves to American Stock Exchange              

1984

 

After numerous acquisitions to build a national footprint, Wards Company changes its names to Circuit City Stores Inc. and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker symbol “CC.”

Circuit City was a Fortune 500 company for over 20 years; it was the second largest U.S. electronics retailer, after Best Buy with stores throughout North America and a print catalog distribution in the United States producing more than $15 billion annually

1989

 

"Circuit City Express" was introduced in a mall based format in over 55 locations

2009

 

Systemax acquired the Circuit City brand name and trademarks

2016

 

We acquired the Circuit City brand and global trademarks, then began developing the next generation platform

2018

 

The “circuitcity.com” website is re-launched for D2C and B2B eCommerce

2022

 

The company surpassed projected revenue since re-launch
